Bonjour et Bienvenue!
Me ~
I am a simple girl from a small town in the mid-west, USA. I’m very happily married to the man of my dreams and we share an affinity for all things French (and animals)! We love our home and petite farm and we continually work to make it as “french” as possible! It is our little slice of Heaven on earth.
Although I love being home, I also LOVE to travel! It is one of my biggest passions and nothing makes my heart happier than sharing my love for travel with others and encouraging them to turn their travels dreams into reality. I often have people tell me that they live vicariously through me and my travels – but my mission is to help them live out THEIR OWN dreams.
My love for all things French ~
I cannot pinpoint a specific time in my life or event that made me fall in love with all things French, but somehow it happened. When I was a freshman in high school, we had the choice of four foreign languages to take: French, German, Spanish, or Japanese. That was a no brainer for me… French, of course! Once I started learning the language, I fell even deeper in love with all things French! I had the BEST teacher, Madame Koch, who made me want to learn as much as I could and I began dreaming of possibly one day… hopefully one day… I could actually travel to France. What a dream that would be!
A few years later, in 2001 to be exact, I stepped foot onto French soil for the first time during a business trip to Germany. Yes, I know, I said Germany. We were working in a small town not far from the French-German border, so I convinced the Lead Engineer to at least take us (or even just me if no one else wanted to join us) across the border since I was so close to the place I had only dreamed of visiting one day. Everyone else on the team loved the idea as none of us had been to France before. We had dinner somewhere in France that evening! Although I don’t remember the town, I know that my heart was abundantly full and there was a piece of me that I left behind in that lovely place called France! At last, I finally made it to FRANCE!!!!
That next spring, my husband and I spent our honeymoon touring seven different countries in Western Europe. What an amazing time we had, indeed! Of course, France was one of the countries we visited and ended up being our favorite. We adored each country we visited, but we both thought there was no other place like la Belle France! Fast forward to today and I can say that I am a self-proclaimed Francophile and we have been blessed with many holidays spent in our favorite “home” away from home –la Belle France! It is our goal to one day live in France for 4-6 months of the year in a restored farmhouse somewhere in Burgundy (or anywhere in France will suit me just fine).
Why “French Daisy” ~
The “French” part – I assume by now you have come to the realization that I am in love with France and all things French! Is that an accurate assumption? Mais oui!
The “Daisy” part – When I was trying to come up with a name, I wanted it to describe me or something that I hold near and dear in my heart. When “French Daisy” popped into my head, I loved it. I absolutely love flowers and one of my all-time favorites is the daisy. I love daisies so much that I named my Golden Retriever “Shasta Daisy.” So, the “Daisy” part not only pays tribute to one of the BEST dogs that has ever lived, but also to my love of all flowers.
Merci for taking a few moments to read about me and why I love all things French! I hope you will find yourself back here in the future for some ideas and inspiration for adding a little bit of France to your everyday life.
~ A la prochaine ~
