I am overjoyed to share that my husband and I will finally be headed back across the pond to Paris in October! It has been 3 years… THREE!… since we’ve been in Europe and I have been longing for it since I last left there.
Now the planning begins! Planning our trips gets me so excited and the anticipation builds each day as our departure date gets closer and closer. Researching new things to do and see, re-visiting some of our favorite spots, and shopping for new clothes for the trip are just some of the fun things I really look forward to. To me, the planning phase is part of the journey.
For this trip, we will be living like a Parisian. We have never taken a trip to France where we only stay in Paris. We normally begin or end in Paris for 2-4 days, but this one, we’re staying put in the City of Light! (Side note – speaking of “City of Light” – do you know why Paris has this nickname? Let me share with you. In 1828, Paris began illuminating the infamous Champs-Elysées with gas lamps, being the first city in Europe to do so. In French, it is known as “la Ville-Lumière.“)
Back to the trip planning – we are renting an apartment, another first for us in Paris, and let me tell you… I am SO EXCITED for this. It looks absolutely lovely and is in one of my favorite areas of Paris – rue Cler. I have been wanting to rent an apartment for our stay in Paris for years at this point, so this time, I’m checking it off my Bucket List! We are renting from Paris Perfect and sometimes I still have to pinch myself because I’m so happy we’re finally doing it. My guess is that it won’t be our last apartment to rent!
So, you’re probably wondering, why Paris in October? Well, we have been there in the fall before and it is absolutely gorgeous! The sea of golden leaves along the footpaths through the numerous parks, a slight chill in the air (which is my FAVORITE weather), and less tourists are just a few of the reasons why we’re visiting in the autumn (l’autumn).
Since we will be in the apartment for the duration of the trip, it will allow us to “live like a Parisian.” We’ll be going to the market each day to gather some fresh produce, fruit, fromages (cheeses), and of course, les baguettes. I’m really looking forward to relaxing on our balcony with a freshly arranged charcuterie from our finds at the market paired with a delicious wine and some fresh French breads – just like the locals!
Where is your next destination? Stay tuned for trip planning updates, tips and checklists for your upcoming travels! I’d love to hear from you, so drop me a comment or simply say Bonjour.
~ Merci for joining me! ~
