Don’t just dream.
Turn your dreams into REALITY!
Are you a dreamer? I know I sure am. I remember back when visiting France was just a dream. It seemed so far off and distant, but I never let go of that dream! Don’t you let go of yours either!
If you’ve been around this space for very long, you know that I am a Francophile by every means of the term. My adored French teacher in high school lit the flame for my love of France, and it was never extinguished. In fact, it’s quite an inferno these days! Haha. ❤️ (Merci, Madame!)
Fast forward a couple of decades, and I must share that I am extremely thankful and grateful that I have had the opportunity to visit la Belle France several times and each time it gets harder and harder to leave. I just love that place. It doesn’t matter if I’m in Paris, Colmar, Loire Valley, Carcassonne, or anywhere else in France, I just love it regardless of where I am!
As French Daisy is just starting to blossom, I’m so excited to share that I just recently returned from a 4-week trip to Europe (Belgium for a week and France for 3) AS MY JOB! That is just unreal to even type that. Seriously!
Remember that dream I mentioned earlier? I never gave up on it. I could not even if I wanted to. That dream is bigger than ever and I’m LIVING it! I was fortunate enough to bring along two other couples (who were more acquaintances before the trip, but are dear friends now) along with my husband to lead my first French Daisy tour.
These beautiful people were all dreamers, too. I remember very vividly my first conversation with one of the ladies who came with us. She has a lovely boutique in our little town, and I seriously fell in love with her shop the first time I walked in. I was surrounded by gorgeous, vintage decor (that reminded me of so many things I’ve seen in brocantes in France), French music softly playing to add to the ambiance, and most importantly – the sweet lady behind the counter. (My intention that day was a “quick” trip to town to drop off some items at the post office. I thought I’d “quickly” drop by this boutique to see for myself what all of the hype was about – and ended up being there THREE HOURS)!
Back to my friend at the boutique, she too was a dreamer. She and her husband LOVE thumbing through books and watching videos of different places in France, the gardens, architecture, style, cuisine, etcetera. As we talked, it was very clear to me that I needed to turn her dreams into reality. In fact, I told her, “I will take you to Paris one day!”
Without boring you with all the details, they joined us on French Daisy’s initial guided tour. She was a dreamer. Her husband was a dreamer. They dreamed of visiting France, but didn’t figure they would ever make it there. They kept dreaming… and all they needed was a gentle nudge from someone with experience to calm their fears of the unknown. Remove those roadblocks, friends!
They had never traveled overseas. They don’t speak French (or any language other than English). They weren’t comfortable navigating in a foreign country. How in the world would they make it around with everything being so foreign to them? They were dreamers. Just dreamers. When I met my friends, I knew I had to turn their dreams into reality.
Fast forward about 8 months and I’m completely honest when I say my heart was so full. I literally teared up (more than once… or twice…) when I saw the awe in their eyes as they saw Paris for the first time. THIS is my dream and enabling others’ dreams, too. It’s a win-win.
So, what are you waiting for? Why haven’t you taken that step to turn your dreams into reality? Is it budget? Is it fear of being in a place where everything is unfamiliar?
